Xobni, the word “Inbox” spelled backwards, claims to have created a new way to look at your email by offering you the ability to see and know more about your contacts - including a photograph that may be provided via Linked in, Facebook or other social networking profiles sites that your contacts may be signed up to.
It never ceases to amaze us at Langley James as to how our contacts choose to be portrayed or maybe they just don’t know about Xobni?
Truthfully the only thing that has changed with email in the last ten years is that everyone gets more of it. Email is overflowing with information. It’s hard to find what you need and to know what you have.
Xobni has identified this and aims to help by pulling information from email signatures and message bodies in your Outlook contacts as well as from LinkedIn, Facebook, Hoovers, Skype, and Yahoo to create an information profile for each person you interact with. It sits in the right hand side of your inbox and works alongside your email.
It can quickly pull up the phone number, company name, title and even a photo by simply typing a name the Xobni search box, as well as this the whole profile of information will be at your fingertips as it automatically extracts information from your emails and the other sources. You can see someone's phone number even if you've never actually entered them into your Outlook contacts.
It produces historical information such as a recent conversation that shows your most recent correspondence with that contact. I have found this useful to jog my memory when replying to a new email, as I can quickly recall what had already been said. Personally my favourite thing about Xobni is I no longer have to trawl through loads of emails before I talk to someone as you don’t have to navigate away from the current conversation to locate previous emails.
In the ‘related people’ section it shows other people who are connected to that person in some way, showing you shared contacts relationships to each other which can also be useful.
Xobni can even help with scheduling your diary. Another interesting feature is that Xobni also automatically identifies people you've lost touch with by looking at the dates of your last correspondence with them. I am sure there are lots of other useful tools on there too you may be able to tell us about!
Xobni currently integrates with the popular Microsoft Outlook email client and will extend to integrate with other email clients, instant messaging applications, and social networks.
